minimum point
A point on a graph where the value of a function is less than that of the surrounding points.

If the graph is a smooth and continuous curve, the minimum point is a turning point. The slope of the graph changes continuously from negative to zero, then to positive.

If there is a lower value elsewhere on the graph, this minimum point is a local minimum (or relative minimum). Otherwise, it is an absolute minimum.
