spherical polar coordinates
A method of defining the position of a point P in space by three coordinates (r, symbol theta, symbol phi), in which r is the distance of P from a fixed point called the origin O, symbol theta is the same angle as that in polar coordinates in the plane, and symbol phi is the angle between the line segment OP and the z-axis.
