One of the ninety-nine points that divide a distribution into one hundred parts of equal frequency. The most commonly used percentiles include the median (or the 50th percentile), the lower quartile (or the 25th percentile), the upper quartile (the 75th percentile), the 10th percentile that cuts off the bottom 10% of a frequency distribution, and the 90th percentile that cuts off the top 10%.
