latitude
The measure of the angle in degrees between the line from a point on the earth´s surface to the center of the earth and the plane through the equator.

The lines of latitude are the imaginary lines to help locate positions on the earth´s surface, which are drawn parallel to the equator and used to indicate the distance of a point from the equator. Any point on the equator has a latitude of 0°. The north pole has a latitude of 90°N, and the south pole has a latitude of 90°S .

The point P on the latitude shown in red has a latitude 60°N that is the angle between the two radii OP and OE, in which E is the point on the equator.
