complex plane
Also called Argand diagram. In a Cartesian coordinate system, a point can be represented using coordinates (x,y). When this point is taken to represent the complex number (x+iy), the plane is called complex plane or Argand diagram. It is named after the Swiss-born mathematician Jean Robert Argand, one of several people who invented this geometrical representation for complex numbers.
